Austin (Edge Guides)
Published in Paperback by Longstreet Press (March, 1999)
Authors: Margaret Moser, Andy Langer, and Ingo Fast
Average review score:

The best guide to Austin
This is by far the best travel guide I've come across for ANY city. Finally a travel guide that doesn't seem to be written by a tourist. My only complaint is that Edge Guides can't be found in more cities.

My bible...
I have lived in Austin for 5 months now, and still find that I carry this book around with me and use it to guide me around the city. I think the highest compliment for this book is the fact that friends of mine who have glanced through it find it to be right on target as to what is worth visiting. And these are Austin natives. It is especially useful in helping us who choose not to partake in the whole "fraternity/college" nightlife and hang out with the rest of the music geeks on 6th street. The best investment I made before moving down here!

The Best of Gil Elvgren

The Best of Gil Elvgren
I think this is a wonderful poster book...a must for all Elvgren lovers. A first class collaboration by B&B, Reid Austin & King of Pin-up...Art Amsie. Be sure to add this to your pin-up library! Signed: Marianne Ohl Phillips, author of Pin-Up Poster Book : The Elvgren Collection

Why Elvgren is the master of Pinup Art
The perfect pinup consists of the skillful presentation of two contradictory conditions: youthful innocence and latent sensuality.

Better than all of his contemporaries,Gil Elvgren has achieved this difficult goal. His philosophy: Sweetness can be sexy, Innocence can be sexy, and Shyness can be devastatingly aggressive.

This book is a magnificent presentation of that philosophy.

In the harmonious blending of his basic elements, Elvgren's works represent the apotheosis of pinup art.

"Best of Elvgren" is a MUST for all collectors.

Blind Trust: A Child's Legacy

Grand Slam Writing
What a story! What a Writer! This book puts the issue of abuse in perspective. For those of us who grew up in a "normal" home, this book is an eyeopener for the terrible things that go on behind the closed doors of an abusive family. Alcoholic father, nutty mother, a small rural southern town setting, and you have all the ingredients for a story like this to unfold. If you haven't read this book, you have missed a great opportunity to experience a world most of us never know. My only regret is that five stars is the highest score I can give this book.

A must read for people of all ages
This book gives an insightful treatment of what it is really like for a child to live in an abusive environment. Written in noval form, and based on a true story, this book centers on the growing up times of a little girl in the rural south. A drunkard for a father, and a religiously misguided mother set the stage for unspeakable acts of abuse; things no child should ever have to endure. If you chose to read this book, your life will never be the same.

Blythe: NightVision
Published in Paperback by Thorby Enterprises, Inc. (05 October, 1998)
Authors: David Quinn, Hannibal King, Jeff Austin, Susan Dorne, Myke Maldonado, Kyle Hotz, David Quinn, and Hannibal King
Average review score:

A Textbook Defintion : Quinn and King's Nightvision
A first glance, brillance. At second glance, revelation. Then there's a burning in your heart. Because, there's nothing that could take the place of Blythe's story.

Make no mistake, as a poor observer to the long standing brillance that is maximus literatti personified, David Quinn gives as good as the reader can get, then feeds you more. Blythe's actions define woman personified: complex at definition by their actions, easily understandable at their core. Defined by the chaos around her, but rising above it, she is triumphant not through her therupatic killing of her kin, the other creatures of nightmare, but through the ascension of her coming to terms with matters of heart and soul. Make no mistake, Blythe, heroine to mankind, is our savior. And yet, like all those who seek martydom through heroism, she is flawed and fragile, compelling us not to pity, but to exalt and worship her.

Master Arcitect Quinn, blessed with Hannibal King's hands and eye, turn in one of the best well written, soul defining, horror stories ever. And this edition, presents the ascension as it should be read, as one contained book.

And to the Pantheons of tragic heroines : Pandora, Helen, Juliet...we add Blythe.

I said it before when this series was in comic form back in 1994, I'll say it again here.

"Quinn has written the defining book on female comic characters, the textbook for all others to study and follow from."

Do yourself a favor, and share souls with Blythe. Come to an understanding for yourself the beauty of this work.

I HIGHLY reccommend it!

What _Vampire_Lestat_ *wanted* to be, yet hadn't the guts!
Fiercely viscious, with a nearly-humanist subtext, BLYTHE pounds away the effeminate, androgynous millstone from the neck of the vampire mythos.

In an incredibly cinematic visual feast of nearly 200 pages, I was engorged with the film-noir delicacy of this book. I encourage anyone interested in truly SMART comics and graphic literature to buy, enjoy and share it.

Cally and the Sheriff (Harlequin Historical, No 981)
Published in Paperback by Harlequin (September, 1997)
Author: Cassandra Austin
Average review score:

Andrew Haywood was in trouble!
He knew he'd promised to watch out for Cally DuBois. But he'd never expected to be mooning over a wildflower of a woman who'd just as soon shoot him as look at him!

Sheriff Haywood just kept looking out for her, no matter what kind of weapon she waved at him. And Cally was beginning to think the stubborn man was blinded by that fever she saw in his eyes every time he looked at her. A fever that seemed to be catching!

Cassandra Austin does it again!!
A great classic! Austin delivers a heart-wrenching tale about a independant woman and a man who doesn't want to let her go! 6+stars!!!

Catch a Rhyming Star : Call Me Rhymester
Published in Paperback by To Excel Inc (November, 1999)
Authors: E. Fay Dyer-Austin and Cecil Dyer
Average review score:

Writer Of Realities
What a great and wonderful surprise with the pubication of this book. I expect it will astonish the rest of the world, as well. I wish you much success with your book and hopefully this hidden great gift of yours will nourish and grow more. I have read it and am very touched by its realities to life's wonders and woes. It seems to be everyone in verse. Congratulations to you. I really mean that and my sincere hope your gift of words continue to flourish. Again, well done.

A Poetic Journey
"Catch a Rhyming Star" represents a touching and compelling poetic journey; one woman's journey to emotional fulfillment and self-acceptance. It is a look into the heart of a woman that is deeply complex yet simple in its ability to see the beauty and joy in the most overlooked everyday experiences. We could all learn a great deal from the author, my mother, E. Fay Dyer-Austin, about slowing down and taking time to stop and smell the sunflowers. And Mom, things are smelling sweet!

Collateral Damage

Author: Austin S. Camacho

New Author
I am always looking for new authors in the mystery catagory so I was very pleased to see Austin S Camacho in [local store] doing a book signing. I bought and read the book, Collateral Damage, and enjoyed it very much. I will be back for more books by this author. His characters were very real and were woven together in a chilling tapestry. Also had a surprising ending but of course I won't tell....you must read for yourself.

Best new hardcore detective
I've found a new hero: Hannibal Jones. This character is one of the most dynamic, exciting, and powerful detectives I have read in years. I was very impressed by Camacho's writing style. This is the terse, rivetting style of the Maltese Falcon, yet fully modern, and not a campy, cliche-ridden copy of noir pulp fiction. This is fresh, wonderful, and thrilling. The characters and their motivations are extremely complex. Nothing is easy in this book, with tough relationships and a hard fight to resolve a true crime, as the plot spirals deliciously out of reach for the hero. He isn't a superman blasting down walls and amazingly solving everything without any work. He's real, he's hurt, he's angry, and someone's out to kill. It's a do or die casse of iron nails for breakfast.

I am overjoyed to have stumbled over an entire new series of great detective fiction, just when I had grown tired and burned out by the endless copycatting of the mass-produced detecto-thriller of today's bestsellers. Many of those authors, whom I shall not name yet have a set-in-stone pattern (son, you know?), don't even care enough to write their own books any more. That is factory fiction and obnoxious to both fans and the true readers. Want to read some great contemporary detective drama? Pick up any Austin Camacho book and let Hannibal Jones kick your teeth in.

This is perhaps the best brief summary one is likely to find on the behavioral revolution in American political science.

Wonderful!

Cry of the Drummer
Published in Paperback by Worldrock Pub (February, 1996)
Author: John Michael Austin
Average review score:

Five Star reader!!!!!
Excellent book!!!! Five stars!!! I'm a musician .....a drummer, like Johnny. It gave me hope for my own career, and I'm no where near as bad off as Johnny was, close (minus the drugs), but not as bad (and I thought I was bad off till I read this book). And Billy, Johnny's friend also was inspiring. This book kept me in suspence through out. I can relate to Johnny and the stuff he went through. At the end, I just cried. Very well written by John Michael Austin. He is also a drummer and, that made it all the more special. I'd like to shake John's hand for a book well written :o) One more thing, John. When's the movie coming out???? This book is definitly movie worthy!

INSPIRATIONAL AND MOTIVATING.
This book is everything for everyone. Inspirational, motivating. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Johnny Covini makes us realize that no matter how low we are in our lives, there is a drive deep within ourselves to make it. We have to love ourselves first before we can take on the task of achieving anything else. Excellent read. These are the kinds of books that movies are made of.

Descendants of John Milliman
I bought the book on John Milliman and the companion book on Aaron Milliman a few years ago. I refer to them constantly and have provided information to other family members doing Milliman family research. A great compilation of names and information and WELL indexed. If you have a Milliman in your family tree this is the book for you!

Great resource for Milliman research. A must!
Ms. Austin did a supberb job in researching and compiling information on the decendants of the first known Milliman in America. If you are researching the Milliman family line you will be absolutely thrilled to obtain this book. She even included pictures when available. What a treasure!!!! Thank you Ms. Austin!
